On Sunday evening at 1815  hours the Pomeroy Fire Company along with Sadsbury Fire Company and Parkesburg Fire Company for Tower 28 were dispatched to a Chimney fire at 50 Reel Street in Sadbury Township. Supplemental reports advised flames backing out of the wood-stove with details to follow.

Deputy 29 (Taylor) and Chief 31 (Supplee) arrived on-scene to confirm a chimney fire. Chief 29 made the response and arrived on-scene to establish “Reel Street Command”. Engine 31-2 arrived on-scene with Engine 29-1 following. Crews from both stations entered the home and worked to remove the contents from the burning wood-stove within the residence.

Crews placed the PPV fan in service to remove the smoke condition from the residence, as one hand-line was pulled from Engine 29-1 to extinguish the embers removed from the wood-stove. Crews placed tarps within the residence and contained the fire to the wood-stove.

Sadsbury firefighter Zwick climbed onto the roof and with assistance from Assistant Chief Grossman removed the aluminum housing for the wood-stove which had a blockage. The incident was contained to the wood-stove and “Command” placed the situation under control at 1832 hours.
Members from Pomeroy and Sadsbury worked together to clean-up and overhaul the incident to get out of the blistering cold weather. Units cleared at 1852 hours returning to their respective stations.
