Thursday, January 7, 2010 - The Pomeroy Fire Company received official notification from the Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner's Office that two grants have been awarded to our organization totaling $ 16,305.27 through the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.
Under the grant program, $22 million will be allocated for Pennsylvania fire companies and $3 million for ambulance service units. More than 2,700 volunteer organizations took advantage of the $25 million program during past years.
The Pomeroy Fire Company was awarded $ 11,040.90 for our Fire Grant and $5,264.37 for our Ambulance Grant. The Fire Grant will go towards a list of equipment that the Pomeroy Fire Company is in need of for Engine 29-1 and other Fire Station items much needed for our company. The Ambulance Division grant will go towards debt reduction for Ambulance 29-2 and assist with costs accumulated with operating two Ambulances.
The base award amount this year to a Fire Company was $9,500. However, additional funds were granted to Fire Companies who had Nationally Certified firefighters on their roster. For this, we received additional funds of $ 1,540.90 for our training levels of our providers.
We all know that the Pomeroy Fire Company is in need of the funding assistance from the grant program and it is an asset to our Fire and Ambulance Division’s along with other Fire and Ambulance companies throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Pomeroy Fire Company would like to thank State Fire Commissioner Mann and his outstanding staff for their assistance in providing this program annually to our volunteers and all the Stations throughout the Commonwealth.
