On Saturday March 13, 2010 the members of Pomeroy Fire Company and Westwood Fire Company completed the Annual Haz-mat Operations Refresher held at the Westwood Fire Company. The Chester County Instructor was Gerry Lindenlauf who instructed the class. The members of our company are required to attend a refresher each year to maintain their skills and training in the haz-mat level. Hazardous Materials is a potential incident which leads to a large scale event and requires many hours of training.
 
The class was given with lecture and in-class demonstrations. As shown in the pictures Firefighter Swick demonstrated the Haz-Mat Suit for the class which would be utilized. Chief Tribbett also demonstrated another type of suit after being called upon by FF Swick. Both completed  the proper fitting and donning of the suit selected for the particular Haz-mat incident.
 
Our area utilizes the Chester County Haz-Mat team for any responses that indicate the potential of hazardous material. Our Firefighting and EMS personnel are trained in the Awareness and Operations areas as the actual offensive work gets completed by the Haz-Mat Teams trained professionals.
