On Saturday February 20th, 2010 the Pomeroy Fire Company was dispatched shortly after 1530 hours to 23 North Street in Sadsbury Township for a structural collapse. Assistant 29 made the response and arrived on-scene to find the incident occurring at one of its own member’s residence. Deputy Chief Taylor had a partial collapse to the rear of his residence from the heavy snow and ice. Deputy Chief Taylor notified the CCFR of the collapse and requested a response due to it affecting the structural of his residence. Engine 29-1 made the response with three. Assistant 29 advised CCFR to reduce the rate of the Engine and hold the balance as Ambulance 29-2 made the response.

Pomeroy crews checked for additional structural damage and contained what did collapse from the snow and ice. Pomeroy personnel assisted Deputy Chief Taylor with additional snow and ice removal by placing a ladder into service and personnel cleared the adjoining roof. Crews remained on-scene until all the proper notifications were made. Assistant 29 cleared the assignment out at 1605 hours.

We wish the Deputy Chief the best with his plans of correcting the issue and were glad to see that no injuries were sustained from this incident.
