| What it would look like at night trying to find the hydrant |
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 - The Pomeroy Fire Company would like to remind residences and businesses within the Township’s to please assist with clearing snow and ice around the fire hydrants.
With the second storm approaching and snow accumulating above 20+ Inches the hydrants are being buried by snow and unable to be seen. The Pomeroy Fire Company is asking everyone to please remember your fire hydrant, as it is important in a time of need.
Fire Hydrants are essential in supplying water to fire apparatus when a fire occurs and remain a importance in areas where rural firefighting occurs.
If the fire company is unable to find or connect to the closest fire hydrant during a fire, unable to access your driveway or front door there could be a delay in providing fire protection and or ambulance service.
Help the fire company help you by clearing snow and ice from the closest fire hydrant and your driveway/walkway. If you know of a neighbor or friend that needs your help, make sure theirs is clear as well.
Seconds are vital during a fire or other emergency; make sure those seconds are not wasted on the fire company having to find or clear the fire hydrant and driveway through the snow!
Thank you for your assistance and please use caution when driving on the snow covered roadways.
