Tuesday, February 2, 2010 - On Tuesday February 2nd, 2010 one day after the annual station CPR re-certification the Pomeroy Fire Company Ambulance along with Sadsbury Fire Company QRS was dispatched to Keystone Helicopter in the shop area for Seizures at 1749 hours.
At 1755 hours Captain 29 (Dalmas) and QRS Lieutenant Weaver (31) arrived to find a man in cardiac arrest and began CPR. CCFR was notified of the change in patient status and was advised to upgrade the response. Sadbury Fire Company was re-dispatched with the medical upgrade assist. Responders conducted CPR and utilized the AED with multiple shocks delivered.
The patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported to the local hospital with resuscitation efforts continuing. Upon clearing the hospital a short time later the patient had re-gained pulses and was breathing on his own.
The Pomeroy Fire Company would like to thank everyone that assisted in the resuscitation efforts. Cases similar to this are rare and it goes to show that early CPR and rapid defibrillation in the community can make a difference when moments count.
Great Job to everyone involved and congratulations of your clinical save.
